Giving hope. Supporting education. Transforming lives.
At the Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation (CUMF), we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream—regardless of their background or circumstances.
In keeping with this commitment, CUMF responded to a request for support from the Community Development Service (CDS) group in Okeigbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, for a Back-to-School outreach programme designed to support children from less privileged backgrounds.
A Need Identified, A Community Supported
As part of their community development activities, the CDS group conducted a needs assessment across some public schools in the area. Their findings revealed that a number of learners were returning to school without some of the basic materials needed for effective learning.
To address this challenge, the group proposed a “Back to School” project, scheduled to coincide with the resumption of schools on 23rd September 2026, with the goal of reaching at least 100 learners.
When the request reached CUMF, the Foundation, as usual, stepped forward to support the initiative.
More Than School Materials
The outreach was designed not simply to distribute school items, but to encourage children to return to school with confidence and renewed enthusiasm.
The key objectives of the project were to:
- Provide essential learning materials to pupils from less privileged backgrounds.
- Encourage school attendance and support improved literacy.
- Contribute to meaningful community development.
- Support the NYSC objective of using community development initiatives to create positive social impact.
Investing in the Future
The proposed materials included exercise books, water bottles, school bags, pens, pencils, sketch pads, and sandals—basic items that can make a meaningful difference in a child’s school experience.
For CUMF, initiatives like this represent more than giving. They are an investment in children, education, and the future of our communities.
The Foundation remains committed to the values that continue to guide its work: peace, love, hard work, compassion, and the empowerment of the next generation.
Keeping the Legacy of Celestine Ukwu Alive
The legacy of Celestine Ukwu is deeply connected to humanity, wisdom, compassion, and the belief that our lives should positively impact others. Through initiatives such as this Back-to-School outreach, CUMF continues to translate those values into practical action.
A school bag may seem like a simple gift. A pair of sandals may seem small. But for a child who needs them, they can mean confidence, dignity, encouragement, and the motivation to keep going.
One child supported today can become a source of hope for an entire community tomorrow.
CUMF is proud to support initiatives that put children first and create opportunities for them to learn, dream, and build a better future.
Together, we can give hope. Together, we can build communities. Together, we can transform generations.

This is commendable, keep doing the good you are doing and I assure you, God is watching and he will definitely bless you.
God bless you, the good you people are doing will be rewarded, God is watching and he will also meet you all at the point of your needs, Amen
