It was an unforgettable afternoon at the *University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as the **Institute of African Studies, in collaboration with the **University of Nigeria Senior Staff Club, hosted a *live screening and tribute event dedicated to the legendary highlife maestro, Celestine Ukwu.

















The event, held on *Wednesday, October 29, 2025, began at the *Institute of African Studies Seminar Room at 1:00 PM, then continued at 4:00 PM at the Senior Staff Club, UNN. From start to finish, the atmosphere was filled with nostalgia, pride, and deep admiration for one of Africa’s most philosophical voices.
Among the distinguished guests was *Barr. Cynthia Ukwu, daughter of the late icon and *Founder of the Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation. Her heartfelt speech brought emotions to the room as she reflected on her father’s enduring influence — not only as a musician but as a cultural philosopher whose lyrics spoke of wisdom, unity, and the realities of life.
The event drew a *remarkable audience—academics, music enthusiasts, and cultural advocates—all gathered to celebrate a man whose music continues to echo through generations. Various speakers took turns analyzing and appreciating the *depth of Celestine Ukwu’s lyrics, describing them as timeless lessons woven into rhythm and melody.
One of the most captivating parts of the day was the documentary screening directed by Chikezie Ifedobi.
